Kajiado County

With the frequent drought being experienced and eventual cross-border mobility of livestock, it is increasingly pertinent to establish Kenya’s response capacity and control strategies of trade sensitive trans-boundary diseases and other diseases of economic importance.

There are emerging technologies in livestock identification and traceability, which could hold the key to effective control of livestock movement, national security, and biosecurity as well as disease control. The focus of this project in Kajiado County will be the on-going efforts in the county to improve the management of pastures and feeds to minimize the ravages of drought.

CABE  has held project planning meetings with stakeholders in County Government of Kajiado(Department of Animal Production), County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP), potential partners(Friends of Pastoralists) and a Maa Community Based Organisation(CBO) to scale up uptake of pasture and fodder production as well as identification of  opportunities and strategies for policy engagement.

Let's make the world better together.
