Marsabit County

According to the Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) reports, Marsabit County experiences the effects of extreme weather events more frequently compared to other arid and semi-arid lands (ASAL) in Kenya.

Our interactions with stakeholders from this county revealed some response strategies to these extreme weather events such as diversification of livestock species, innovations in water supply, feed, and hay. Other coping strategies include efforts aimed at diversification away from livestock.

We have commissioned a study which examines climate variability, its impact on pastoralism and provide a case study on pastoral innovations with respect to managing scarce water resources and herds in seasons of extreme weather events.

Let's make the world better together.
